The original Lumenis Aura (often archived under its legacy production name, the Coherent Lumenis Aura) is a foundational medical Nd:YAG ophthalmic photodisruptor laser. It is designed primarily for treating the anterior segment of the human eye.
Instead of burning tissue like a photocoagulator, the Aura creates micro-explosions in ocular fluid (called photodisruption). Eye surgeons use it to snap open thick tissue membranes without making surgical incisions. It is used for two main procedures.
Posterior Capsulotomy and Peripheral Iridotomy.
